Local Handyman’s Invention Makes Work Easier
The idea came to him 30 feet in the air, precariously balanced on a ladder with a paint can in one hand and brush in the other. It suddenly struck handyman Mark P. that he needed some way to safely reach his supplies. All of a sudden, the concept for the Ladder Platform was born.
“I’ve seen something similar for step ladders, but not for extension ladders,” Mark said. “I’m surprised someone hasn’t come up with it by now.”
Since he is still looking for a manufacturer to license the product, Mark cannot reveal in too much detail what it looks like or how it works, although he has registered it with the U.S. Patent office. But he does describe it as a “safety item” that could make working on a ladder much easier.
Mark, who does renovations, who does renovations for a real estate company, has had other ideas for inventions but this is the first one he has actively pursued. After he came up with the idea he drew a rough design for it and faxed the information to Invention Technologies, Inc., a Florida based company.
“They called later that day,” he said. “Everyone was excited about it.” The company is now handling the marketing and legal aspects of his product, which he hopes will soon be available to consumers.
“Everyone could benefit from the idea- painters, electricians, plumbers, handymen and women,” he said. “It’s just a matter of finding a manufacturer and it’ll take off.”
