Man Invents Do-It-Yourselfer Tool

All that George P. was hoping for last summer was something to help keep the plywood steady while he was building a new shed for himself and his wife. As it turned out, he ended up inventing a new tool to help builders like himself who often work alone. And, at the same time, he opened up a potential money-making inventstment that could benefit both do-it-yourself construction types and big developers. The man and his wife, Susan, are the creative team behind the new invention called a "Plywood Hanger" that is currently being patented and readied for production by Invention Technologies Inc.

It is the family's first invention and happened somewhat unexpectedly, they said. Mr. P said he got the idea for the tool while building the shed at his home. He had something specific in mind that he felt would help him maneuver large sheets of plywood but couldn't find anything like it on the market. "I went to Home Depot looking for it and they said they'd never heard of such a thing," he said. So, he decided to make one himself. When he pitched his idea to Invention Technologies, Inc., he said they responded enthsiastically. The Florida-based company is currently looking for a manufacturer for the product.

In their released statements, they describe the tool as having a unique design that guarantees the handling of plywood is made considerably easier for one person, saving time and effort. Declining to describe the hanger further, Mr. P said while he wasn't being deliberately cryptic, he was not able to give too many details at this stage. "Because it's not patented yet, they don't want to disclose how it works," he explained.
