Community man invents tool to help fishermen

Tim T. says that he was tired of his fishing tools constantly being tripped on or scattered everywhere because of a rocking boat or rough waters. "If you have a fish on the line, you have to run and get pliers and you just don't want all that at your feet," Tim said. With that idea in mind, he decided to invent something that would eliminate all of those hassles. "While I was out there fishing - ain't no one talk to - it just hit me one day," he said. "I thought, why don't you build something like that?" Tim made his invention three years ago out of wood. He contacted Invention Technologies last April or May about his invention. Invention Technologies is now trying to get a manufacturer to buy what is being called the Tablemate.

Tim said that his invention will put everything that a fisherman needs right at his fingertips. "I know what it has done for me," he said. "I think it will be one of the hottest-selling products for the fishing and boating industry whenever it hits." Tim said that his invention will be available in different colors and possibly made out of a plastic or polymer material. The Tablemate should also last a lifetime if properly taken care of, Tim said. "It ain't gonna wear out like tires on a car," he said. Tim began professionally fishing in tournaments with his brother four years ago. They won third place a few times in that tournament, Tim said. Tim said that Invention Technologies plans to show the Tablemate at a trade show next month to get manufacturers interested in it.

He hopes to start selling his product in the near future. He would like to see the product priced between $30 and $40, but that has yet to be decided, Tim said. Tim wants his product to be affordable and something that will help people become better fishermen, he said. "If I can make $1 off every one sold, that will be more money than my little mind can comprehend," he said. "Just let the name of it take you where you need to go."
