Hoping for a clean sweep

It's called the Dust Pan Holder. That's all you need to know. Feel free to speculate. Hmm, it must help dust pans. With the patent pending, inventor Agnes B. isn't talking about her Dust Pan Helper. She won't show it off and she won't even describe what it looks like. With some marketing help from Florida-based company, Invent-Tech, Agnes is hoping a manufacturer will purchase her device and she can make a buck. Then everyone can see it. Consider it a reward for an inventive mind. Agnes, an employee of All Good Cleaning, spends time correcting problems she finds in her day-to-day toils. Once she needed to carry along a vacuum and an extra bag, but had no place to store it. Some rubber bands looped together created a place to stick her bag, right on the vacuum. Mission accomplished. She didn't need a patent for this - it was just being practical. "I've always done things to make my job easier," she said. She's come up with a variety of inventions she's working on, including the "butt sifter" for cigarette butts.

This scoop allows you to easily remove cigarette butts from an ashtray. A lip allows you to even get in the hard-to-reach corners, Agnes said. It also works for kitty litter. She's still perfecting the details of this one. Creativity runs in the family. Her husband Bill spent some time trying to create a car engine that could run without gasoline. Her teenage son likes to weld and has created some artwork, including a large sword. Agnes's inventive brain started churning as a child, when she handed her father tools, she said. She recalls watching in fascination as he repaired a bike. Now, "whenever I see something wrong, I have to solve the problem," she said. To aid in her studies, she carries along notepads. The classified pads hold all her inventive secrets and sketches. "If I have an idea I think I'm going to forget, I grab any kind of paper or a napkin and I jot it down," Agnes said. But you can't look at those. The secrecy is just part of the business, said Shonte Everett, from inventor relations at Invent-Tech.

Advertised on TV and on the Internet at www.invent-tech.com, this company is paid for finding a manufacturer of the product, Everett said. She's secretive too. She would not discuss how many patent-pending inventions they have or what major successes they have. There's a reason for their caution, Everett stressed. "We don't want to jeopardize the ideas. Somebody could snatch it," she said. Even under the haze of mystery, Agnes did say she is in discussions with a dust pan manufacturer, she said. Not wanting to leave the community completely in the dark, she would add this about her Dust Pan Helper. "I thought it would be useful to people in all different walks of life," she said. This invention will help senior citizens, people with bad backs and people who cut hair, she said. .Oh it helps people, not dust pans Maybe you can own one soon.
