So she began working on a flavored pacifier, an invention she is hoping manufacturers will ultimately license. The product’s patent is pending approval. “I thought of everything, but my husband Milton put everything on paper,” said Ms. B. A homemaker and the mother of Cody and a 16-year old daughter Sad’e, Ms. B said she was not trying to get rich when she invented the product.

His invention: an environmentally friendly, re-usable oil filter that will save on natural resources. They recently joined forces to develop a product called “Um Pack,” which is a personal accessory that the trio claims will make people’s lives a little easier. It will allow people to carry multiple items in one pack without limiting their movement, especially those with a “busy lifestyle.”

But in her spare time, she comes up with inventions. “I have so many invention ideas,” she said. “They just pop into my head.” One of them, called Flexible Braids, is being shopped around for potential manufacturers.

Mona B. and Gene J. have developed the Doggie Breeze, an easy to install apparatus which allows a dog to b left inside a parked vehicle without the worry of heat exhaustion. It also provides the dog with a chance for fresh air without it sticking its head out the window. The Doggie Breeze allows for a free flow of air and an unobstructed view to keep the pet entertained. Mrs. B and Mr. J got the idea for their invention when a couple of canines they knew got into some tough situations due to being in locked cars.

A former Belleville resident is on the verge of marketing his invention that will ensure pets are safe when they’re left alone in vehicles for varying periods of time. Gene J. is now peddling his invention, Doggie Breeze, to various interested manufacturers in the automotive and pet products industry. “It should b commercially available within the next 12 months…I think it will be a big hit worldwide because where there’s heat, dogs and cars, the product will come in useful,” he told The Intelligencer in a telephone interview, Thursday.

That’s where Rhonda N. and her friend Joy M. may soon be able to help horse riders. Rhonda rides her horses often and she also smokes cigarettes. She needed a place to put her cigarettes when she was finished with them. Along with Joy M. she created the saddle horn ashtray. “I can talk about the reasons why both Joy M. and I invented the saddle horn ashtray,” Rhonda said. The device gives users a place to extinguish and contain cigarettes while riding a horse.

If it hadn’t been for an injury Larry H. sustained to his neck and arm the ingenious idea to craft a lawn and garden product he created along with his wife Cathy could have very well been another’s fame and fortune. After undergoing major sugery on his right shoulder, Holloway began experiencing difficulty as he strained to tug and pull at the string of a weed trimmer he used for work in his landscaping business. “Don’t get me wrong,” explained Mr. H, who is also the owner of a landscaping company, “I don’t want to benefit from the wealth of this product.”
