INCIDENT COULD PAY OFF
Cedric B. knew he needed another childproofing option when he ran across the room to stop his little girl from inserting a screwdriver into the electrical outlet.
“The outlet had the white cover on it, and she was able to pop it off with the screwdriver,” said Cedric about the 2003 incident.
In an effort to protect his daughter and all children, the 26-year-old school teacher created Lock It Sock It, a product that will “secure the outlet to make sure the children can’t insert things into the outlet,” Cedric said during a recent interview.
Lock It Sock It would replace the traditional outlet cover, Cedric said. Each plug outlet would have to be unlocked by a code, either one at a time or both.
Cedric hopes a company picks up the product and that it will be marketed to schools, daycares, churches and public housing.
“They (daycare children) are a lot smaller and mischievous than the ones at school,” he said.
Cedric is excited at the prospect of having his product picked up even though he “never really thought about” inventing anything before the Lock It Sock It.
