Frustration to creation Painter invents different kind of masking tape

Nancy G. searched and searched home improvement stores for something that would help her easily create straight lines while painting murals. But she couldn’t find anything.

So Nancy, 42, turned her frustration into creation, inventing what she calls “E-Z Stripe” masking tape.

“I was frustrated that a product like this wasn’t on the market,” Nancy said, who works part-time painting murals in people’s homes, in addition to being a part-time dental hygienist.

Nancy said she’s come up with a lot of crazy ideas in her lifetime, but she said this is the first time she’s ever taken an invention seriously.

“I want it manufactured so I can be using it,” Nancy said.

After figuring out exactly what she wanted in a product, she then contacted Invention Technologies, a market research company out of Florida that helps would-be inventors.

Nancy says she can’t fully describe her product publicly due to possible manufacturing agreements, but explained that it will make it simple to edge or pinstripe while painting. She hopes to license the E-Z Stripe to manufacturers interested in producing and marketing it.

Nancy said in the traditional method of painting straight lines, there are several steps.
“It would cut three steps out of the process,” Nancy said.

Nancy said she expects her product will be used by people who are interested in creating specialized decorative painting.

Nancy said she hopes to have the E-Z Stripe masking tape in full production and available to the public soon, but did not have an exact timeline.
