Necessity is Mother of Wheelbarrow Invention
In construction and landscaping, the use of a wheelbarrow is usually always necessary, whether for hauling mulch, dirt or plants, or even mixing cement.
A man has invented a way to save a worker’s hands from blisters and pain while lifting and hauling endless weight on the job.
William, self-employed in landscaping and construction, created “Barrow Grips,” a new product that is now in the patent stages. Working with Invention Technologies Inc. in Coral Gables, Fla., William hopes to find a local manufacturer in the injection molding business to manufacture his new product.
“What spurred me to do this was wheelbarrow handles splitting and chipping. About 99 percent are wooden handles,” he said. “On a hot sweaty summer day, I don’t wear gloves when using a wheelbarrow. A homeowner might be more inclined to wear gloves, but a contractor won’t.”
His new Barrow Grips help keep a tight grip on the handles. “I’ve seen many a person spill a heavy load in my day,” he said. The wheelbarrow handles split from the weather, and “they get warm from your hands,” he said. This product also helps guard against getting splinters when the handles chip and split.
Unfortunately, since the product is in the development and marketing stages, pictures and drawings of the Barrow Grips may not be released to the public.
William is looking forward to the time when a manufacturer can be found for his Barrow Grips so he can officially join his family sideline of inventing.
