Local couple’s idea germinates into Flower Organizer

Long time residents and flower enthusiasts Donald and Melanie R. have invented a device that can contribute positively to the aesthetic value of flower and plant arrangements. The Flower Organizer allows for optimal bouquet arrangement whether the person designing the flowers is a professional or an amateur. The product is simple, easy to use, and will be available and affordable for the public shortly after a manufacturer is secured.
Melanie, a quality control specialty by trade, originally developed the idea after purchasing a bunch of daisies that did not meet her standards of beauty.
“I bought some daisies, and they didn’t look very good. They needed something to make them look better. That’s when I first came up with the idea of the Flower Organizer, which allows flowers to be spaced so that they don’t lean over.”
Although Donald often has presented Melanie with flowers (like every good husband should, even if you have to cheat from the backyard sometimes,” he joked), their serious enthusiasm in flowers and plants started about 13 years ago when they began landscaping the property surrounding their house. Using the advice and information of friends, Donald and Melanie’s knowledge and interest in horticulture continued to grow, as did their ideas on how to improve the look and presentation of the results of their labor.
“Melanie got the idea for the Flower Organizers, and we talked about how it could be used. Then we saw the Invention Technologies commercial and called them,” said Donald. After receiving research guidance and promotional assistance from the company, the product is ready for manufacturing.
According to Donald and Melanie, the product would be useful not only to those who arrange flowers at home but also in the retail industry for florists and caterers. In addition, the product could be adapted to accommodate the landscaping industry.
This is not the first time that the pair has developed an idea for a new invention, but it is the first time they have followed the thought with action.
“The process has been great so far,” said Melanie. “This biggest challenge has been trying to keep it a secret.”
Donald and Melanie agreed that a benefit of their endeavor has been the resolution of an unattractive flower bouquet problem. They also were happy to have had a positive learning experience on taking an idea and making it a reality, which they hope to capitalize on in future projects.
“We definitely have plans for other inventions,” said Donald.
