Inventor: Next level

“Before the invention development companies came about, it was very difficult to take one’s ideas to the next level,” Paul W. said. “You had to take it to a manufacturer or try to make it by yourself.”
He said now you can approach one of these companies with an invention and they can help you get started. Paul said he worked countless hours in the development of the book reader, but he and his family are being patient awaiting the day the product will be manufactured.
Paul said he has invented other things only to see them hit store shelves before he could patent them, but he has learned to take things in stride and move on.
“Sour grapes, you know,” he said.
He said that having Invent-Tech take him and his project seriously has been wonderful and the most exciting day so far was when the patent office contacted him with registration numbers.
Though the exact details of the digital book reader must remain a secret until production, he said the invention will help many people when it finally hits store shelves.
“Those who will benefit are those who carry around large amounts of books, namely students,” he said. “Not to mention people who wish to produce a book. This process will be much simpler and affordable.”
Paul said the best advice he could give to someone who wants to invent is to keep trying.
“Ben Franklin had thousands of ideas and many were terrible, but many were great,” he said. “People love to shoot you down. You have to be able to take it on the chin, pull yourself together and move on.”
He said just because the idea sounds silly or someone says it is a bad idea, doesn’t mean it will not work.
“Let’s face it, someone came up with the toothpick dispenser because there was a need for one,” he said. “And the garden weasel for crying out loud. Who da thunk it?”
Paul said the key to inventing a successful product is to get out of bed in the morning and work hard.
“Most of all keep thinking up ideas,” he said. “I think it’s America’s greatest asset, we were born to invent. It’s what freedom is about and what freedom will produce.
